information.
Aside from the weather changes, chocolate bunnies, and all the other busy activities going on. Make sure to to set aside sometime and grab your cleaning supplies to do a deep cleaning of your home this spring.
Deep Cleaning Challenge for this Spring
It is important to spend time deep cleaning because you can really focus on disinfecting your whole home. This is different than a regular cleaning because it isn’t a quick wipe down, you will be taking your time, with no rush. Paying attention to the details and getting the cracks, crevices, and grout to remove all of the built-up bacteria.
For this job, you might want to hire someone to deep clean for you because it does take some time, or you can get to work yourself. Whichever you decide, make sure that these are on your deep cleaning list this spring!
1.Top to bottom
Once you begin, make sure to start from the ceiling of the room and work your way down towards the floors. This ensures that dirt, dust, and any other types of “not-so-good particles” that you wipe up, can be knocked to the floor and vacuumed later in your cleaning process.
2.Every detail
Pay attention to your oven, door knobs, light fixtures, trash cans, toilets..everything!!! Bacteria can build up over time. So make sure to keep an eye out for the small details to confirm that you deep cleaned correctly this spring. No slacking on this job!
3.Dust
Baseboards, lamps, bookcases, the corner of the walls, and even on top of your ceiling fan. Grab those particles and dust them away to help prevent allergies and other health problems. I know that I don’t want to be hanging around with those little dust mites! Having a duster
with an extension pole is key for deep cleaning because it provides flexibility. This duster
even rotates and bends, cutting your dusting time in half because of how simple it makes the process!
4.Clean your kitchen
So, you know that expired food in your fridge or cabinet? Yeah, well now is the time to take it out and throw it away. Empty your whole fridge and disinfect it, this can help keep your fridge from being sticky and smelly. Also, clean the inside of your microwave paying attention to the splatters all around from previous cooking’s. You should even give your dishwasher a rinse with a cup of white vinegar rinsing away grease and keeping it fresh. Having a dirty kitchen can be such a health factor considering that it is where all the food is prepared.
5.Clean your closet
Take every item out of the closet. Yes, I know, this doesn’t sound like fun. Now, wipe everything down and do that whole deep clean procedure. This spring is the time to eliminate those unnecessary items. Anything that you haven’t worn in the last year, you probably won’t wear this upcoming year. I challenge you to donate any clothes that you have outgrown or no longer really put use to.

Donating=making someone else’s day 🙂 Plus, you will end up with more closet room and/or can go shopping for more clothes!
6.Clean your bathroom
I’m sure you can imagine how nasty bathrooms can get. Not deep cleaning them can seriously pose a threat to health! It may seem gross, but this spring you need to use some toilet bowl cleaner
and get down to the toilets. Also, you will need to do some deep cleaning your drains. You can use a drain cleaner product or make a DIY cleaner at home with vinegar
and baking soda
. This will help prevent future clogging and get rid of any smelly odors from your drains. Trust me, it will be worth it when you go to the bathroom and it feels fresh, you deserve that!
7.Sweep
, Vacuum
, mop
-Getting all the dirt off your floor is very important. I want to be able to walk around my house knowing that I am on nice floors and not having to worry about the soil that was once tracked in. Grab your broom and dustpan
and spend time sweeping up all the little bits and pieces. Don’t forget to remove your rugs, shake them out, and get underneath the furniture too!
-This 2-in-1 Hand/Stick Vaccuum Cleaner
is cordless making it less of a struggle having to watch out for the cord the whole time. It also allows you to adjust the suction level, it is lightweight and easy to use. Use a vacuum that makes it easy to reach places that are not usually easy to reach, like under your sofa! –Mopping should be the last out of these three tasks. You should always remove the dust and soil from off the floor before you mop or else you will just be mopping a muddy mess! By having a bucket with your mop, it allows you a place to easily wring out the excess water and dirt. Take extra time to deep clean and get underneath the fridge and behind the toilet.
8.Cleaning your carpet
There are several DIY options for this or you can hire a professional for this matter. But by cleaning your carpet you are removing all of the embedded dirt that has been tracked into your home. It also can get rid of any stains that couldn’t be removed by a vacuum.
9.Polish
Spend some time polishing the wood of your furniture to keep it extra shiny. I commonly find myself using a microfiber cloth around my apartment. It gives everything that extra shine, including your furniture, countertops, and your mirrors. You know that smudge that won’t come off with a papertowel or your spit (haha…kidding)!? Well, that is what thrag is used for, no more smudges or worries!
10. Reward yourself – Make It Fun
After putting in all of this hard work and effort into deep cleaning, you definitely deserve to treat yourself. You must plan something to look forward to for once the job is finished. Maybe that is a spa day, eating out at a restaurant instead of cooking, or getting yourself a new spring outfit! Whatever it is, you deserve it. And when you finish your deep cleaning, you will definitely feel very accomplished and relieved! I guarantee it.

I love this list! It is very practical. I have a toddler so getting the whole list done at once is basically a joke…but I’m working through deep spring cleaning my house now!!

I was hoping to find this terrific post again SOON … now that spring might actually stick around a while! Just trying to figure out if I put each member of the family in charge of doing everything but only in one room in particular -or- should we specialize in only a few tasks that we each do for all the rooms. Hmmm. What say you, Charisma? <3
Wow, that is a good point Maggie! I would run it by with the kids and see what they think and all agree on. Maybe decide on a treat that the whole family can look forward to for when you finish! I would love to hear how it goes!
