If one of your major goals is to drive more traffic to your site, then Pinterest group boards are a fantastic way to help you achieve this.
Pinterest is a social media site that allows you to pin things you have found anywhere on the internet. You then organize these pins into specific boards on your page set by category/niche.
Only you are allowed to post to your own boards. But, there is a way to invite others to your board or join others and that’s where group boards come in.
Group Boards
Group boards give you access to share the pin with more viewers. This can help get yours or others content out there to a larger audience that is looking for your specific type of pin.
Since group boards have multiple contributors and pins being pinned at a time, they usually can get a lot of followers quickly.
“How do I find group boards?”
To find group boards you can go to Pinterest and search under boards with your certain niche/keyword. When you see that there are multiple contributors to a board, then you know it is a group board.
**When searching for high-quality group boards, make sure it has many followers, lots of engagement (people continuously pinning), and specific rules on how to join.**
Example:

If you want to find out the owner of the board to ask to join. You can always find them on the far left with the biggest profile out of all of the contributors. (It is the yellow highlight in the image above).
The group board rules can be found in the description (the red pen in the image above). This is exactly where it will tell you what the board is for (the category and the pins it will accept) as well as how often you can pin. The description also usually includes who is in charge of the board and how to contact them to ask them to join.
Depending on the owner’s rules, as a member of some group boards, you can sometimes invite others to collaborate too. Meaning that you can add people to the group board even if you aren’t the owner.
Since we know this group board owner has a large following, we can assure that they probably are contributors to other group boards as well.
So, to find more group boards from this one, we can check out the owner’s page and see which kind of boards she is in. If we find some, then we can request to join the ones that fit our niche. This will lead us to an even larger audience!
Here we go…

Wow! Look how many high-quality group boards we just found just by checking out someone else’s (with a lot of followers) boards.
Every single one of these (highlighted yellow) are group boards. Besides the one with red underline (“Save money on…”) is just one of Melissa’s own individual boards.
So when you find a high-quality board that fits your niche. And has rules that you can follow then you should definitely request to join it!
More Ways To Join
If you are still looking for more ways to collaborate with others in your niche. And trying to get your content out to more followers, try Tailwind Tribes!
Not only does it help maximize your reach but the tribes also save you tons of time! When you are in a certain tribe, they all have specific rules that are set to follow. Every tribe has the rule to repin a pin just as often as they share a pin to that tribe. This ensures that pins in the tribe will definitely get repinned, giving your pin a higher chance to be seen by more people. This all leads to more views, repins, clicks, and later on – conversions!
Since starting with Tailwind Tribes, I have seen a major increase in my blog traffic. So, I totally recommend joining if your goal is to get your content out there.
