Secrets to a successful trip at Bushch Gardens

How do you feel about hanging in the air for 5 seconds and then immediately dropping down 205 feet at 70 mph? Or how about hand feeding the kangaroos and flamingos up close and personal?

All of these dreams can be made true with a visit to Tampa Bay’s theme park, Busch Gardens!

Busch Gardens In Tampa

This theme park has been around for nearly 60 years with millions of people visiting annually.

Not only is it huge on rollercoasters, but there are also other activities that are available at the park to take a part in.

Entertainment

In Tampa, there are a variety of things to do, but Busch Gardens definitely holds some of my favorites. The theme park puts on different events for holidays, live concerts, and even food and beer fests. This makes Busch Gardens even better because they usually give free access to these events with admission to the park!

Shows are also a great way to spend your day in Busch Gardens. From live rescued animal shows, kids show, to ice-skating, your eyes will be caught on some impressive talents! I absolutely love shows and entertainment in general. But I must say, these shows helped me out so much when it was a rainy day visiting Tampa.

As some groups made their way to the park exit in a hurry not to get wet and end up stuck in the park. I walked right over to the theater and watched a live show animal show as the rain slowed down.

Animals

Throughout the park, there are a variety of animals that you can see. Over 300 different species call Busch Gardens their home, which it is the largest zoo in Tampa.

Wallabies, sloths, and snake… Busch Gardens allows you to take pictures of them all and even connect with some. There are several that have food available so you can feed them if you would like too as well!

Underwater creatures are also living around the park. As you walk to your next event you can take a look at the hippos as they take a bite. Or even come across the penguins and watch as they waddle around.

A “Bird Garden” is another feature of the park that you can not miss! It has over 500 tropical birds flying around all inside one large cage. Going into this cage is an adventure itself. I love being able to see all the different colors and being able to even feed the birds too.

Busch Gardens also has an award-winning, open vehicle safari ride for an additional $29. The off-road wildlife ride is known as the “Serengeti Safari” and it lasts about half an hour. During the ride, you will come across animals such as zebras, ostriches, and sometimes you even get to hand feed the giraffe! The tour guide also lets you in on the secrets of these animals and other exotic ones as well!

(Btw… the giraffe’s tongue is very long and feels like sandpaper…lol)!

This park also includes several other animal tours that allow you to get up close and personal with lions, elephants, penguins, and more!

Attractions

The Busch Gardens located in Tampa actually has the most thrilling rollercoasters out of any of the parks in Florida. It has eight in total with the most recent one just finished in 2016 called “Cobra’s Curse”.

Florida’s tallest thrill ride is also here in Tampa with a straight down drop of almost 300 feet! This one definitely requires some bravery but it is one of my personal favorites. As you make the fall, you turn face down so that you are looking straight below you. It is a total thrill, called “Falcon’s Fury”.

Tampa is known for its warm weather. When it comes to standing in lines at this park, you can imagine how hot it can get. It is not very fun. So, I am happy to share that there are several water rides available at the park. Some have it where you will get extremely wet while others just give you a little cool off.

To avoid lines, I recommend staying away from this park during weekends, holidays, and certain events. There are also fast passes that can be bought, to allow you to skip your way in line all the way to the front!

You also might want to consider bringing a rain poncho and a handheld humidifier to your trip to Tampa. The weather can sometimes be unpredictable here. So by bringing these items, it has saved me the struggle of paying the parks expensive prices and waiting in the lines.

One of my favorite parts of the park during summer time is staying until sunset when everyone starts to head out. Then, while on top of the rollercoasters (like Sheikra) you can view the whole city of Tampa Bay. Being able to see all of the city lights from above is magnificent.

Enjoy!

Since this park is very large, I must also add in that there is a Gondola Lift that transports you from one side of the park to the other. This has made it easier for me and takes off some time rather than walking in the heat of Tampa.

And if you are still worried about Tampa’s theme park getting too hot or humid for you to handle, take a look at Adventure Islands. It is a water park with many different slides, including a brand new one! It is located literally right across the street from Busch Gardens.
