Dental Tips For A Better Smile

As a child of two dentist parents, I have learned a lot about teeth. Sometimes I learned more dental tips than I wanted to know. I have seen peoples lives been changed over a quick fix in their mouth. As I grew up, I watched first-time dental visits, different surgeries, and even procedures done on the homeless for volunteer events.

Smiling is truly an amazing thing and that is a big reason that I decided to write this post. So before, I dive into the dental tips to help get a better smile that you’re more confident about. You must realize, you need to smile first! You must open your lips and grin, which might be weird at first if you aren’t used to it. But before you know it, you won’t be able to help but smile, and same with those around you!

Smiling is contagious 🙂

Onto the dental tips…

1. Don’t Eat Dark-Colored Foods

I know some people who like to follow a white diet as it is a lot better for their teeth. That’s because food and drink that are dark, such as some sodas, black coffee, and red wine. These can quickly cause stains to build upon the teeth.

Don’t worry; if you’re like me and thinking “I don’t want to cut all of this from my diet!” The good news is, you don’t have to completely cut these out for a better smile. As long as you limit them, then you should find that they don’t impact your teeth too much.

2. Brush At Least Twice A Day

I hope that you are brushing your teeth at least twice a day. This is the absolute minimum to ensure that the build of plaque on your teeth and gums is minimized. Not only that, though, but it can slow down the overall decay of the teeth and can also limit your chances of gum disease. Generally speaking, we should always brush after every meal, but don’t worry if you forget or are too busy to – twice a day is perfectly fine!

*Diet Tip*

Another cool thing about brushing your teeth is that it is known to help you quit from binging or craving too much on unhealthy snacks. If you have ever brushed your teeth or rinsed your mouth with mouthwash, you probably have noticed that you don’t really want to eat immediately after.

3. Drink Plenty Of Water

It isn’t long after I wake up that I am trying to gulp down a glass of water because I know the importance of staying hydrated.

Are you drinking enough water through the day?

Water isn’t just keeping you hydrated – drinking plenty of water can also benefit your teeth as well. It flushes out any germs and bacteria in the mouth that could cause tooth decay. Plus, water is a great source of fluoride. This is a chemical that the teeth need to stay strong and have a better smile. When you do drink, it’s important that you do make time for water, as most other drinks contain unnecessary amounts of sugar in them.

4. Get Your Teeth Checked Out Regularly

You can’t forget to pay attention to your teeth or to visit your dentist on a regular basis as well.  A dental specialist, such as Trilliant Dentistry, will be able to check out your teeth and gums and spot any potential issues in their very early stages. Or a dentist such as Davis & Beyer, will also be able to give you any advice if you are interested in some aesthetic dental treatments, like veneers or Invisalign.
