How can you pay more attention to your health
How To Put Your Health Before Anything Else

Are you paying as much attention as you should to your general health? Lots of people ignore this issue and tell themselves that they’re still young so they don’t have to worry about their health now or anytime too soon. But it doesn’t really work like that.

If you ignore your health and wellbeing for too long, you will only end up causing more problems for yourself further down the line. So here’s how you can start paying more attention to your health now.

Know Where You’re At and Set Targets for the Future

For you to properly stay on top of all things related to your health, you need to make sure that you are aware of your health now at this moment and where you want to be. That means setting targets that you’re going to actually be able to meet as well. So be clear about what your weight is and your physical activity stats, as well as things like your body mass index.

start today on your health now for the future

Find the Right Medicare Plan

If you haven’t already got a Medicare plan, you should do this as soon as possible. It might feel unnecessary or unimportant to your health now, but you won’t feel that way when you have medical problems that need to be dealt with. It’s always best to look at the medicare plans available now and sign up rather than waiting until later.

Walk When You Have the Choice

Whenever you have a choice between walking and taking a car, you should choose the walking option. It might sound obvious, but so many people take the car when they should really be walking. It doesn’t pay off to be lazy all the time because you will only find it more difficult to stay in shape and you’ll gain weight far more easily than you should.

walk to be aware of your health now

You can also pay more attention to your health now by using the stairs every chance you get. It may take an extra few minutes to skip the elevator. But it will definitely be worth it when you can walk several flights of stairs without running out of breath.

Think More About Portions

Your portion control is another thing that you should be thinking about for your health now. It’s not just about regulating how much you eat in total, although that can be important. It’s more about making sure that you’re eating the right amounts of each food group to ensure your diet is properly balanced in the way it should be. You can increase your vegetable intake and lower your carbs for example.

balanced diet

Something I am working on is lowering my sweet intake… I have an addiction when it comes to sweets, I’ll eat any of them in sight! So cutting down on them is a goal of mine. But, that doesn’t mean I have to completely cut them off and only focus on healthy foods. It means that I just need to limit them and think more about portions to have that healthy balance we all need.

Listen to What Your Body is Telling You

Finally, you should try to listen a little more closely to what your body is trying to tell you. If you find that your body is not as healthy as it once was and you’re feeling tired and lethargic. It might be time to make some changes to your health now. You should also listen to when your body is telling you that you’re full because that’s when you should put the fork down.

It’s important for everyone to be paying as much attention to their health as possible because so many people ignore it until they can’t do so any longer. But it’s much better for you in the long-term if you stay on top of things with your health now and keep moving in a positive direction.

”Although we don’t need to become self-absorbed , we do need to become self-aware”

I challenge you to take the time and become more self-aware of your health now.

Think about it:

What are you eating? Is it a balanced diet? Do you have an eating schedule?

Are you working out? Are you having a difficult time seeing results?

Do you have roadblocks that you need to overcome in order to be healthy?

  1. Great tips! I ditched my car 3 years ago and do walk and bike quite a bit. Which lets me cheat more on the food aspect 🙂

    1. Wow, thats huge. Good for you! & Yes, I agree- the more exercise you do daily, the less strict diet you have to be on.

  2. Walking is such a great thing we should be doing more. Ever since I got my Fitbit two Christmases ago, I’ve lost over 45 pounds because of how much my Fitbit challenged me to improve my lifestyle. Now that I’ve lost that weight, I can focus on maintaining a healthy lifestyle, and I love watching my steps rack up on my Fitbit while I’m walking.

    1. AHHH, yes!!! WOW. That is a wonderful story, thanks for sharing!
The Fitbit can definitely help and be a side motivator to get your numbers up and kick booty in the health game! I love my tracker 🙂

  3. I try to park far away to walk more (really it’s partly because I don’t like to park close to other vehicles, but we can pretend it’s to help me walk more, LOL). Great tips!

    1. Hahahha oh my… this is great! Thanks for the comment and making me giggle. At least there are two bonuses to parking further away!

  4. Such a great point! It’s so important to make your health a priority before you are forced to! Since I started making plants the center of my diet my fitness and energy levels are better than they were 10 years ago. I think so many people choose to live in the moment and don’t really think about the long-term consequences. But even the short-term consequences (or awesome benefits) are available in very little time when we choose to take care of ourselves.

    1. This is so reassuring to hear from experience. Thank you for sharing! I love how you focus on now and the long-term, this is very important to stay healthy and be aware.

  5. My husband and I are definitely into all aspects of health – eating well, getting regular exercise – etc. You have capture some very important essentials! I share your addicition to sweets, I must admit it’s my downfall. As you said, it’s all about moderation!

    1. That is great news that you and your husband are in it together. Many relationships begin to slide and one falls off on the health which can mess them both up. Having a motivated partner is an awesome way to keep one another accountable.
