3 Hugely Underrated Cities In America

3 Hugely under-rated cities in America

The U.S. is such a huge country with a variety of cultures. It’s so big with so many incredible places to visit that many people only scratch the surface. There are some great destinations like my home state, Florida or other states such as New York and California. These states see a lot of tourism and put a great face to the U.S… But that’s only one small part of what the country has to offer.

You can still get an authentic experience in those places but a lot of it is geared around tourists. If you want a different American travel experience, there are plenty of other great places to discover. These are some of the most underrated cities in America that you should add to your travel bucket list.

Providence, Rhode Island

In the past, Providence was a very poor city that didn’t have much of anything to offer tourists or even the people that lived there. So this kind of created its bit of a bad reputation. But the city has undergone a lot of development and it’s a completely different place these days.

If you’re looking for culture, this is the place to be. Providence has been turned into one of the most exciting hubs of arts and culture in the USA and there is plenty to see there. Westminster Street is the central area for culture with loads of great galleries and craft stores as well as loads of amazing cafes and restaurants to eat at.

Providence has plenty of great galleries, museums, and theatres where you can see some awesome shows. It also has a vibrant and exciting live music scene in the evenings. The other major benefit of Providence is that it’s not that expensive to get to and it’s quite cheap while you’re there so it’s ideal for traveling on a budget.

Danbury, Connecticut

Most travellers haven’t heard of Danbury which is a shame because it’s a great city to visit. It’s packed full of weird and exciting tourist attractions that you won’t find anywhere else. As well as, it makes it easy to find affordable lodging in Danbury which is always a bonus. If you’re interested in the darker side of life, you shouldn’t miss out on the Demon Murder Trial Tour. You’ll get a tour around the sites involved with the only ever murder trial to use demonic possession as a defense.

But don’t worry if that all sounds a bit horrible, there are plenty of other great things to do. There is a great railway museum, a wolf conservation center and an odd Greek statue that an artist has placed sculptures of watermelons on. Danbury is certainly not your normal sightseeing city.

Burlington, Vermont

If you’re looking for a relaxed, hippy vibe, Burlington is the ideal city for you to visit. There are plenty of great quirky places to eat and you’ll find that the locals are incredibly welcoming. One of the best attractions to see while you’re there is the Robert Frost Trail. This great tour takes you around some of the sites associated with the famous poet which have been decorated with lines from his work. Burlington is such an experience of its own and definitely is a great example of one of these underrated cities in the U.S.!
